New, from-scratch Web Sites

medium image

This was the web site that I created and designed for my fall, 2007 class. It is called IEUDb.com (the Internet Electricity Usage Database), and it represents an idea I've been developing for a real-world online database of electricity usage statistics collected from members. The site is online and "up", but as of December 2007 I still plan to continue the domain by attaching a database (probably mySQL for now) and using PHP to allow users to search, browse, and display data or to input new data.

This image represents my third or fourth try at an initial design. Originally I was using a table-based design based on our instructor's recommendation, but later I moved to a design based on div's and floats (the 2007 standard for web design).

The color scheme I eventually incorporated here is based on colors that folks typically associate with electricity: yellow, blue, and white. I also incorporated to a lesser extent green, red, and black, colors that are associated with electrical wiring. And, note the image at the top of the page, taken from some digital movies of a Wyoming thunder and lightning storm.
